Splish-Splah... not like coach hasn't got us prepared (or practiced) to play in this weather... but I guess the other teams couldn't handle it... rained out.

First game of the season... were we ready? Just ask DF - "Don't worry coach. I had to talk Andrea into driving so she can pull me in the cage behind the vehicle. I'm going to be an animal out there!" Guess so.
Displaying some fence-clearing power (Grant, Vad, Dar, Tschak), we 10 runned them in game one. In game two, their defense tightened-up a bit, our outfield became a circus and we still almost pulled it off. Dropped it by one when our sixth-inning, two out, five run rally fell one run short. No matter... just shaking the rust off. Good to see you boys. It's been too long.

Well, I watched this one from the stands... and it wasn't a good sign when I showed up at 7:00 and we we're half way through the second game. Word in the press box was that we got ten-runned in the first game. Second game was a bit tighter... but we still dropped it by eight. No matter, we all know that the key stats were one big bottle of Captain Morgan's, two dozen brats, 12 cases of beer, one thrown away phone number, 30 pitchers of beer, 20 White Castle hamburgers and hell of a GNR impersonation... and that was just last Saturday. Just think what this weekend will bring. This Saturday, we find out how fast the third fastest guy on the team really can run.

"Are you kidding? Look what it did to those panties!" Using a new batting order and mixing it up in the field, the Seeds took game one with their best defensive game of the year and some timely hitting (although, we kept it close in the end). Game two wasn't quite as sharp. We jumped out, but I think the after-party caught-up with us as we went scoreless in the last five innings (at least the groom put his glove on the correct hand (hey, where'd that cake go?)). Course, we did see Stretch explode for his first fence-clearer (all we now is that elusive double from Rainbow). Next week we venture to in-the-park homerun heaven. Let's go for .500.

A tale of two recaps. The Hoggers (that's us) started the night off with an unprecedented 11 runs in the top of the first (course, we only got eight more the rest of the night). Riding the shifty pitching of Till and the best D we've seen... ever?... the Seeds posted the first shutout I can remember (even after giving up a leadoff triple one inning... sweet!). In Game 2, the D still stayed tough, but the uneven field, curved foul lines, nonsymetrical diamond and swamp out in center field (anyone else throw their socks away?) caught up with our bats. At least the other team was a bunch of pricks. Still got a shot to go for .500 next week. Let's get a sweep. Hey Rainbow... take us out to the ball game?

All right... no breadsticks or bottomless bowls of salad for anyone. The Hoggers earned a split versus a weak Ciati's team (supposedly 7-1) that should have been swept (course, the ump didn't help (just ask either Keith or Craig how it should have been handled)). Dropped the first one in pathetic fashion, but did stir up some excitement in the second game with a sweet Craig-Tobin-Winslow gun at the plate and an aerial stab by Tschak to keep us alive. We then calmly won it in the bottom of the seventh on a shot by Till. Cool enough. Just a few numbers... week to week the team average has gone from .533 to .442 to .422. to .419 to .412. Anyone see a trend (maybe too focused on the beer lady?)? Me neither. See you in a couple. Have a fun Fourth.

Yeah, I knew things looked a bit fishy when the other team showed up in the full gear, but they could have at least acted like they were trying. Dropped the first game by only two (and we gave them most of their runs). Got ten-runned in the second. At least Keith finally had some stories for the bar (Grant's prodigal son has returned). See you Sunday for the special afternoon brand of Hogger softball. Cranberry anyone?

Too... hot... for... recap. Humidity... unbearable. Sun... beating... down. Tropics? Can... not... type. Brooms... sweep... first of... season. DF... out of... retirement... stellar. Water... need water. Tschak... dinger. Craig... Dan... gun... at plate. Opponents... good... sports. Where's... rain? Mommy. Air... conditioning. Actually, we probably had the best bats of the season (.522 team average this week). Wednesday, we look to even-up our record. Stay cool.

Break-even! Five-hundred! Even-steven! Average! It took darn near the entire season, but the Hoggers final evened-up their record. Whether it be extreme heat or pouring rain, the Seeds keep rolling, rolling, rolling (yup, that's four straight). Sure, the other squad threw the ball around the infield a bit much, but you still can't argue with our offensive explosion (.563 team average, 43 runs). I think our biggest challenge was keeping the book dry. Yes sir, big bats were had by all (including two dingers by Vad in the same inning... ever seen that?). Let's keep it going now... dare to dream for a winning record?

Really not much to talk about this week. Another hot one... any other excuses for the energy drain? We must like .500, because we split when we easily could have (should have) won two. Bats cooled off from a couple of strong weeks. At least there was a lot of good eye candy at the Hogger... any stories? One more week to prove we're better than average.

Looked a little shaky when we gave up 8 runs in the first, but we settled down, coach put in a killer rover strategy and we swung a sweet .625 as a team to fuel a big comeback win in game 1. Game 2 was a bit lower scoring affair with Till tossing a shutout to give us our first glimpse of a winning record all season. Way to finish strong! And, sliding nonetheless. Thanks to our fans, the always inviting Hoggsbreath wait staff and us Hoggers for a fun season. See you in a few.
