(from Craig) Some things go together like peanut butter and jelly and when your missing one, things just never seem to be the same. So, in the absence of their pitcher and leadoff batter, the remainder of the squad had to step up. One can wonder whether it was the Atkins diet, but the Seeds came into the fall season lighter, quicker, and stronger. I think it was the anticipation of the large chested beer tub girl returning, but the Seeds made quick work of their first opponent and left their opponents feeling misplaced (17-3) after five innings. The second game started with their opponents electing to be the away team. Why we don't know. Well, we took it to mean that they thought they were going to put a pounding on us, as we started the game feeling like the underdog. Timely hits, great pitching (no walks given up for the whole night) and some decent fielding propelled the hogger to a 10-7 win. We'll polish up the fielding and continue to stroke the ball as the Seeds make this fall season their be----och! Undefeated and Feeling Fine.

(from Mark) Game 1: In a stunning display of patience that wowed the opposing pitcher, the Hoggs worked a less than stellar team 17-3. After the game, the only questions about this Hoggs team were, "How did we let them score 3?" Game 2: A much better opponent resulted in a classic battle between two pretty even teams that ended 10-7 in favor of the good guys. Vad dusted off the pitching arm and threw a gem against a team that could have done more damage had they not tried to hit it to Bloomington every time up. Lee led the way at the plate going 3-3 with a clutch walk in the top of the 7th.

(from Rainbow) There are significant dates in History. July 4, 1776 - The birth of a nation, December 25, 0000 - the birth of Jesus, 5,000,000 B.C. - a hunched man invents the wheel (and likes it), and on August 25, 2003 the Hoggsbreath Seeds discover the greatness within. Much like the Detroit Tigers of 84, the Seeds dove, hit, pitched, fielded, and muscled their way to two 10 run victories. In only 8 total innings of batting, their were more fireworks and bombs than Baghdad on the 4th of July. Could it be the shoes Mars? Do you know..... I think it was heart, the promise of jerseys to come, or perhaps a little thing inside called...we ain't getting' any younger. The border line 50% 30 years plus team next month had decided fall ball is the year. There will be no let down. There will be no disappointment. This is going to be the greatest 6 weeks of softball Roseville has ever produced in D league. The star performers are indeed the team. And yes, we are jellin' like a felon.

I got nothing for this recap, so if you've got something funny/amusing/whatever, inserted it here:________________. Well, the seeds kept their undefeated season (just like the Vikes) rolling (is it a jinx if I keep mentioning it?). We allowed both teams to stay in the game a bit longer that we would have liked (i.e. we would have been pissed if we lost), but pulled out impressive late game wins in the end. Bats weren't quite as hot as our last session, but we still put up a not-so-shabby team average of .537. Minus a couple of baserunning gaffs and a bit of excessive throwing of the ball around, we looked pretty sharp. More importantly, let's not forget, it's not how well you play, but rather how good you look playing. The sweet new jerseys were worth the wait.

(from Mark) In a game 1 clash between two undefeated teams, the Seeds forgot the immortal words of former Purple coaching icon, Denny "Sticks" Green: When two teams play each other, both teams want to win, but only one team can win, and that team will be the team that scores more. We lost 12-11. We learned our lesson in game 2 and opened up with 18 in the first inning - perhaps the greatest inning in Hogger history. We got outscored 11-3 after that, but that means we won 21-11. (no longer from Mark) Some big numbers... Keith and Tschak went five for seven and D slugged a big stick going six for seven with two dingers.

Riding two monster dingers from Lee (including a light pole shot ala "The Natural") the Hogger's never trailed taking game one in clean fashion. Weren't quite able to 10-run them due to some technicalities... but well played nonetheless. We won a close one in the second game, 10-8, thanks to two more dingers from Lee. In the second game, we hit five HRs, and the other guys hit about seven, with all three of their outs in the last inning being HRs. It was weird to say the least...

Boycotting red meat, the seeds opted for free pickle spears, the most expensive cheese in town and a whole lot of fish. After satisfying our appetites, we needed to bag a little fur. One thing is for sure, stay out of the woods unless Grant Tripod-Triple Buck Fever is leading the expedition. Arriving at the field, one lad thought it was cold enough that a junior-small cup would cover the goods. Well it wasn't that cold, but there was still plenty of room, according to eye witnesses. Finding gaps here and there, the only spark that needed to be put out in game one was a rodent-like shortstop whose bark was louder than his bite. The cream began to rise to the top (hand check Rainbow), as we smoked the competition and the battle for first was set in game two. The Foley's were a solid squad, and we provided little to show them why we deserved to take them out, leaving us in 2nd place. Great Season Boys! As Pat said afterwards... two years ago we were 1-11. See you soon as we send yet another single lad in to what the married boys call "heaven". Steph you're reading this, right?
