Okay,
so we might not have been quite "ready for some football"...
but, it's basically our typical start. Although we lost, I think Craig
put it best... "you know what? I think we had the most positive attitude
in our history." More importantly, click here
to check out our trip to the emergency room.

(from Billy) Another Gang Green shutout! Oops, did we get shut out? I can't remember. Either way, I'm not in the mood to talk about that game and I doubt anyone wants to read the details of that debacle. I did enjoy a good post-game burrito at Chipotle with the team. |

(Billy
again) We're back in business, baby!!! (At least for one night...) I hope
I can speak for the team when I say that after an 0-2 start, we were nervous
as shit. Not surprisingly, once we regained some of our former humility
and fear, we played our best game of the season. It obviously helped to
have Suzuki Nintendo back and operating at 100%. He was a huge factor
on offense and defense for the entire game.
We opened up the game with a defensive stop (one of our first of the season.) Then we marched down and scored - I believe it was the first drive when Steph made a Moss-like adjustment in the air to come down with a nice catch for big yards. We scored but then were unable to convert the extra point (surprise, surprise.) Our zone "defense" allowed them to march on us on their next drive and we did not switch to man fast enough to prevent a score by them. They were able to convert the extra point, so it was 6-7. Uh-oh, we thought at the time, but from that point, with our man-to-man D shutting them down and our offense rolling behind the pinpoint accuracy of Craig's throws, we never looked back. Some highlights include Pam's one on one defense against some big guy. Charlie's rallying of our team by yelling a particular expletive 10 seconds after a play was over. Pat's pick returned for a TD. Bic and Bill shutting down their girls when on defense. Last but not least, finishing up the evening with a fine meal courtesy of Arby's. Final score Us 36 - Them 7 (I guess we did convert an extra point - the ref must have thought I got in on that end-around...) I am already nervous for our next game - anyone else feel the same? I hope so, it is usually a good sign for us! |

No
punts, a plethora of touchdown catches, scoring passes from three different
gunslingers (Craig, Charlie, Pam), five picks (one that was taken to the
house (Billy)), a safety (Charlie), a battle wound (scratched sniffer
- Bic) from our overly-physical opponents and, most surprisingly... a
few converted extra points. Now that's a recipe for Gang Green Classic.
(by the way, where did all those non-cleat, QB lobbing teams go?). Final
score (insert big number here) - 6.

will provide... although, we did take our 3rd straight and pull over .500.
"NICE D!" (to our opponents) indeed.

(from
Charlie) Now I realize that this recap may not have been completed right
on "schedule", and some may even consider it to be "late".
But let me be the first to say, despite the fact the I am currently on
probation (although, I am not sure what from), that Gang Green is highly
UNDERRATED©.
I think many of our fans were pretty down after the first few games and a lot of the odds makers were quick to count us out, but the end of the season proved quite convincingly that Gang Green is ready to make a solid run in the playoffs. Now I know the team strategy is to be a little nervous going into the game so I will say no more. Oh, was I supposed to write a recap and not just ramble? Sorry, got sidetracked. Here goes. I can't say that I remember very many details or even the score from the last game but I do remember one player, when asked how the game went, saying, " We had pretty good." Now, we can't be sure exactly what that means, but he probably was referring to (among other things): ---Bic's 2 INT's, one of which she selflessly donated to Pat after the game. ---Bill's snow cone catch for a touchdown to end the first half. ---Craig's INT, that he ran back for a touchdown, beating the last defender to the end zone by 49 yards (which is very hard to do on a 50 yard field). ---Charlie's recap making it to Pat mere 4 days after the game was finished. Well, I think that's about it. Great game everyone, see you all on Thursday. p.s....when do I get off probation? |

Will
that team beat us again?... sure, when bats fly! Course, this is our second
loss to them this season (we're quick learners though... except when it
comes to horseback riding... that takes us five times before we realize
that philly is trying to buck us the hell out of there). Yeah, kind of
a tough season, but kind of a great season as well. It's different not
always being on top... and I really enjoyed how we stepped it up most
weeks (not all, but most). To be honest, I think in the future we might
not win as much as in the past, but the games will be a lot more rewarding
(we can't even remember how many championships we won when we were on
autopilot). Thanks for a fun season everyone. There was just something
about last night where it wasn't in the cards. And remember, it wasn't
nearly as uncomfortable as Chile, right? Or, something a few wooden slats
couldn't cure. Don't forget to hit that off-season training program. See
you in the fall. Oh, for the official records, we lost by a score in the
first-round of the play-offs.
