Professional Athletes/Freaks

March 15, 2003

Well, this isn’t as much of a complaint as an observation (and maybe a poor one at that)...

Have you ever thought about what you’re really seeing when watching a professional sporting event (especially football and basketball)? Throw out the fact that almost all of these guys have a criminal records, but from a physical standpoint, these guys are freaks.

For whatever reason (probably genetics, but maybe Big Macs help out along the way), these guys grew-up exceptional tall and/or large but still somehow kept quick feet, good balance, a light touch, etc. It’s like some sort of crazy circus.

If there weren’t professional sports for them to play, they’d be totally ostracized, but instead, we worship them. I bet they couldn’t even get a job at McDonald's. They’d be too tall to work the French Fry machine or would be at risk to eat all of the ingredients.

Yes, there’s something wrong here. Course, I’ll continue to pay $40 to go and watch this freak show, kill all my autumn Sundays in front of the TV and wear my Randy Moss jersey around town with pride (see the before mentioned criminal record).

Who’s the freak now?
