Line Gappers

February 22, 2004

We all know that standing in a long line is a little annoying. We've got places to go, people to see, errands to run, etc. And for those of us who don't like to stay still for too long, lines are that much more terrible. On top of this, the occasional "line gapper" makes standing in line not only a test of patience, but also of all things civil, proper and humane. Ever stand behind people (directly or a few people back) who for some inexplicable reason need to leave 3-5 feet between them and the next person in line? So the line is moving slow, and often (if you're at the post office, for example) the line is out the door. People can't get out of the cold and are trying to hold the door open. And some bum feels the need to leave a gap in the line. MOVE people. When we're standing in a long line, every inch of movement towards the front counts! ACK! Makes me want to scream.
