Lazy Cart Users

March 11, 2003

There must be grant money out there somewhere for research on how insensitive and lazy people get during cold, foul weather. One prime research site would be the parking lots of stores that provide shopping carts for their customers. Have you noticed the plethora of carts that are left in and between the parking spaces and around the parking lots? Do the cold and sludge somehow make it okay to leave carts for others to walk around, drive around, or collect? Some friends (especially a loud, no spell-checking, Econo Monoco soccer jersey-wearing one) tell me that I have the attention span of a pudding pop--So I may have missed the etiquette lesson--But the last time I checked, it's rude to leave things in your wake for others to clean up, pick up, and deal with. People, it's Minnesota. If it's too cold for you to push the cart the twenty-some yards to the cart caddy, get out. I hear Jeb is recruiting "intellectuals" to help run the Sunshine State. - Bic
