As the holiday season approaches and you're heading to those holiday parties, I entreat you, DO NOT CLUSTER BY GENDER! It exasperates me to no end when men group on one side of the room and women huddle on the other. Our daily existence requires us to interact with people from both genders--Where do these social skills disappear to when we're at a social gathering? This crazy clumping sends (me) the implicit message that we're supposed to act a certain way, interact with certain people just because of our gender--I don't like being told what to do! Girls don't have cooties and neither do boys. We're no longer on the elementary school playground, for crying out loud! - Bic

Dear Bic, All I have to say is... don't worry about what everyone else is doing. Talk to who ever you want. If they are on the boys side, who cares? Like you said, we don't have cooties and I don't think that the ladies in the group would look down on you. We are all friends after all. We are not in elementary school anymore. - Keith
