Slow Left Lane Drivers

August 19, 2003

I’ve been on a few road trips lately. Love ‘em. Love driving, love the junk food, love hotels, love poking around at gas/truck stops—I even enjoy the flat Midwest terrain. What I can really do without, however, are slow drivers who insist on driving in the left lane. This is such a basic, common-sensical rule of the road. The most novice drivers even know that the left lane is for passing (a.k.a. speeding). Are you Slow Left Lane Drivers just dense? All those cars passing you on the right and then moving into the left lane in front of you aren’t doing so for the pleasure of it. And, if common sense doesn’t prevail, those signs on the side of the road should give you a clue: Slower Traffic Keep Right. Read much?
