Really, anyone looking at this anymore? They're probably our most challenging opponent which should be fun...but it also kind of stinks when they continue to beat you down (maybe our pick-up on the low net was a tough adjustment back for us too!). They're a good team who play a lot of volleyball. Oh well. Fresh start next week. Thanks to Wendy for subbing.

Weird night. New ref didn't know all the rules. Lots of ugly errors on our part. Some good plays, but our energy was odd. Lost the first one 27-25. Won the second in a close two point game. Won by something like eight in the third game as they basically imploded at the end (and we had some odd rotation mess-up by the ref). Oh well. Enjoy your week off! Thanks Wendy and Jed for subbing!

Man, all I could think about was how crabby Craig would have been if he were at these games. We had some good hustle plays, but slow starts (10-20 in game one, 0-6 in game two) and some really bonehead moments costs us. We just didn't have any consistent focus. At least we squeezed out game three. I mean, if you're only going to win one...it's best if it's the last one. On the bright side, we had the largest showing at Old Chicago in...well...sometime. And, we got our sponsorship back! 55 smackers is a lot o' dough.

Funny, I don't think any of us played that spectacular, but we did win three games off a pretty good team (and really, where are all these young, tall teams coming from?). We won some games we usually blow at the end. That felt good. Then, we brought the two man crew (Keith & Pat) to Old Chicago to enjoy (okay, force down) a giant cookie. One of these weeks...pie! Enjoy your week off! See you in a couple.

Impact
Wow, there were a lot of short Asians on the court tonight. We probably should have smoked them, but ended-up only taking two out of three. Not sure, but our volleyball energy seems off lately. Hopefully we can pick it up for the next couple of months and finish strong. Worst of all, Keith took a fall and banged-up his knee pretty bad. Sucks! Hope for a quick recovery!

(from Craig) Surprisingly we played well. Our effort was high and our communication did not allow for a whole lot of unattended balls. We played Gordies (Keith knows their main short stalky guy), and they have good setters, but limited hitters. They tend to play a more calculated/crafty style and we denied them on most occasions.

Besides the hustle factor, we were able to hit a lot (not strong blockers) and won all 3. They tightened up our lead in the 3rd game, but we really outplayed them. It helps too, that Natalie is serving better and we have very few service errors.

Lost all three. We played pretty well and beat them to 20 every game, but couldn't close any of them out against a familiar foe (young kids!).

We played awesome...for the first two games. Our bumps were on. Our sets were juicy. Our hits were clean. Then, it all fell apart in game three and we got crushed. Bummer, but okay against a fun opponent (except for the bearded dude calling Keith out for too much dancing). Old Chicago was fun...except there may have been something funny in the chicken since three of us left with tummy aches (still finished the cookie thought). FREDENT (three sticks a week)!

Played a tough (young) opponent that took three games from us in our last meeting. Not this time! Despite my basically being a lump (darn cramps!), the team took all three! A blowout in game one. A sweet 13-21 comeback win in game two (the last 12 points off of the sweet serving of super sub Wendy) and a nice third game win for the sweep!

(from Craig) We played short shorts and won 2 of 3. They have a really good double block, so we tipped very effectively, but a couple of their servers had our number. Jed was more aggressive than normal which was great to see.

Honestly, I think this might be the very last day of Geeks on the Web. Kind of crazy. Good season team! Nice decade Geeks!
