.500 can come quicker than you think (not that we were thinking that quick tonight). Lost three... but I still think Keith and Salty must have blocked/touched every ball at the net. Sometimes it's nice to play in the forest with the big trees. (from Bic) Slow as jello? Slow as quicksand? Slow as wet cement? (Steph is awesome) With our captain away frolicking with the Wild, Gang Green had difficulty with positioning and movement. Indeed, a snail could've beaten us in a foot race. (I heart Steph) The play of choice for the evening was to yell at someone else to get the ball because you were too close to it to bother. For example, "PITTER!!!" echoed through the gym on one occasion....What, you couldn't be in mid-air blocking while simultaneously down on the floor three feet away for the dig? Tuh! (Steph is beautiful) Despite our efforts to imitate inert life forms, all three games were really close. By far, however, the highlight of the night were Stephy's brownies--Yum! THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! |

| Hate to admit it, but the stories just aren't as grand without the "Golden" girl around. Also, I'm bit congested and not feeling to recappy. Anyway. Good week for us. Took on six youngens with only four. Leah was her usual consistent self. Keith was his usual big self. Steph had full net coverage. Craig waited for the perfect time (the end) to bring the hammer. Pat was in a daze. All or nothing for us... three more wins (including a sweet comeback in game three). |

Net
Assets
|
(from
Craig) No one really knows why Bic & Craig were filled with rage,
but after a timeout there was no question everyone had jumped on the bandwagon.
In a rather ugly fashion, the Kung Fu Hamster and Cheetah had ignited
enough of a spark to push their team to victory. Game 2 looked like a
route, but Gang Green took a nap and allowed the walking floor mats to
mount a comeback. It wasnt until The Old Grey Mare gave a little
WHOOOOO thinking his tip was good as gold, that the Corn Fed Thumbs responded
with a WHOOOOOOOOOOO of their own. With a tip here and smash there game
2 went to the Greeners and left the Net Assets with nothing but a bad
attitude. Monkey see, monkey do was the story of the third game. Hat guy
thought our tips were the answer as he attempted to counter our attack,
but his wit couldnt match that of Pats Fruit Basket. Game 3 goes
to you guessed it, Rage Against the Machine. Sweet blocks by the D olphin;
balance beam tips by the M onkey; digs by the W olverine; sets by the
M ole; lots of energy out of Jessi the Jackrabbit; and look at me
guy delivering a few body blows. After a short handshaking period,
Suks took a shoulder for the team and if anyone wants a fight lets meet
at the Hogger. Next week Suks will debate against yet another large woman
who makes us all feel a lot smarter. And yes we were under the net you
Beeeeeeeooooooch (so your kick didnt count)!

Dig
'Em
|
(from
Craig) Short and not so sweet. The Greeners mounted
their horse and seemed poised to defeat the misfits known as Dig-Em. After
missing more than his share of serve receives the captain called several
time-outs which were unable to charge the rest of the squad. Being mentally
down from missing two of their favorites to injury and sickness, the Gang
needed the subs to overcome their admitted weakness. This feat proved
to be too much for Leah and her ringers, as they got no help from the
mainstay of the team. Dig-Em (with only 2 guys, who were overrated at
best) beat us down with weak tips in the middle 15-13 and 15-11 in the
first 2 games. We managed to muster a victory 15-13 in the final game.
Things to work on
.. serve, serve receive, digs, attitude and spiking
that ball so f-ing hard Dig-Em will be drowning in tears on their next
visit. OUT

Well, the highlight
of the evening was definitely the BBFB (Blue Footwear By Bic - thanks!).
With each choosing their own style of sock wearing (over-the-knee, tucked,
scrunched, rolled), Gang Green took the court in an energetic, playful
mood. Unfortunately, the competition didn't allow for must heated play.
GG managed to miss plenty of serves, but still came out on top of a
fairly easy three games. The Pepper Game (and attempted Nacho Game)
peaked interest for a short while, but in the end, only incented weak
hits and dodging of serves. Good times were had by all (except "can't
waste 15 minutes" Leah) at Don Pablo's (I've even got the photos
from Colorado to prove it!). That's about it. Except, we did learn one
valuable lesson that we should never forget: Craig is hilarious (even
if he does buy cheap, crotchless underwear)! |

Nothing
to witty this recap (course, if you've read any of the last ten, you're
expectations should be low)... just a really fun night of v-ball. Gang
Green came-out psyched-up, warmed-up and pumped-up to take two out of
three from the league's best team (sure, it would have been nice to have
taken that third game with all of our adoring fans looking on, but this
was still some of our top game to date). Craig brought his usual hard-hitting,
pump the team up play. Keith was an unstoppable weapon at the net (that
we really leaned-on). Steph started to take the hammer out of the tool
shed. Bic brought her fiery game and, although I was too busy teasing
her to mention it at the gym, one heck of a good passing night (and some
very kind compliments for our opponents, repeated). Leah had her pinpoint
sets on and at one point, even hit a ball she couldn't find in the air
(almost like she had eyes in the back of her head... course, maybe they
were pounded their by the earlier ball meet face spike). Pat hit a lot
out (or barely over the net), but had one heck of a fist pump going (please
see end of game two). Lots of great individual plays, but better yet,
unbelievable team scrappiness and spirit (and nobody got too mad at anyone,
right?). Keep it up team! Us thirty-somethingers have some game left after
all.

(won 3) |
"I'm
guarding against the creeping!" Yes, our warm-up strategy of passing,
hitting, and digging from the outermost regions of the gym worked wonders
for our game. Blue-legged Gang Green took the court with the usual giggles
(enhanced by Steph's light gray "Sesame Street character" outfit,
Craig's Sartell gym gear, and Pat's short-shorts) and won all three games
without much ado. The return of "Peppers" and "Nachos"
raised the stakes in Game 3 and brought out intense serves, passes, sets,
hits, and digs. GG saved the best, however, for the post-match, jump-serving
3 on 3 game where Peppers-hoarding Craig forcefully redeemed himself......Lastly,
let's recall the quote of the night (and perhaps for the ages) from Pat
to Bic: "I hate to admit it--because it'll come back to me--but I
thought you earned a few Nachos in that last game." Aaaahh....Archive
it.

Alright pat here goes the recap. By the way it is 12:45am. It was a damn cold Tuesday night as Gang Green entered the gym. The team seemed loose in warm ups and if I do say myself, quite acrobatic with Pat flying around the gym like a crazed man. As the team started game one, it looked like this \ was going to be a somewhat easy and yet fun night of play. With great serving and the boys hammering the ball like there was no tomorrow. The Gang took game 1 with ease with almost a shut out. Going into the game two it looked like the team was going to steam roll their way to victory. The first half of the game was well played out with great bumps, perfect sets and lets not forget the hammering done by Pat and Craig. With the team up 11-1 something happened. It was either the team went into auto pilot or the fire in their bellies was snuffed out. With a blink of an eye the teams energy was going. And the A.D.D team that was on the other side came back and took the game 16-14. Going into game three things didn't seem like it was going to be any better. With the score zig zagging back in forth gang green dug down deep and came out with some great digs by Steph and beautiful placed sets by Bic and Leah. Oh, and the hammering boys from game one took their hammers out of the net and placed them down the A.D.D teams throat. All and all we came out with two wins, but the look on the teams face as they left the battle field told a different story. It was summed up best by Leah " It wasn't a bad night, but we know we should have won all three". And Bic, we will try not to be all disappointed when we don't win all three. We just know we are superstars. |

(from Leah) It was a typical
night of ball for the Green, Steph and her hits
were right on the mark, Now Bic, the littlest
asie, struggled part of the night. So stayed tuned

"Is
it the shoes?" The night started out a bit flat, but turned into
some of the best play this Gang Greener has seen. Personally, I thank
that spastic Goldilocks on the other side of the net for our motivation
(course, I noticed that Craig didn't seem to share our pissed-ness against
her... his tummy must have hurt too much... because who can count the
number of time we've had to get behind him being pissed (what? we're mad
at that guy already?)). No matter. Leah played her consistent self (and
never quit the team... phew!). Craig continued to do what he did all season...
bring the thunder. Steph learned that spiking a volleyball hard can be
as much fun as catching a football over her head. Pat got pissed. Bic
saved the best for last with her most accurate setting night of the year...
and Keith learned not only to be big, but to be scrappy and even have
a bit of finesse (such a softy). All of this led to Gang Green's best
finish ever. Keep hitting those weights and taking that Mass Builder 2000
(I recommend strawberry... with COLD water)... the next season is right
around the corner. Ahhh... Natural!
