(from
Craig) Some early banter about not having a team shirt, and our lack of
focus during warm-up, gave the impression that we were not going to have
good cohesion on the court. Shockingly, we jumped out early, talked quite
a bit and put our opponents away all three games without too much stress.
Chris, Keith, Hatti and 6-4 (Natalie) all had good net play. A few missed
serves and hits, but overall the hustle and performance was great. Over
the next few weeks, we'll determine a few things.... surgery, sponsor
and a few new nicknames for Natalie.

A
night of almosts. Almost got a sweep. Almost broke the top ten in Photo
Hunt. Almost shared a pizza. Lots of good plays (both v-ball and Megatouch)
and lots of errors (both v-ball and Megatouch). I'm sure we'll gel and
button down and take it to most of these teams as well as our new virtual,
top ten Megatouch rivals at Old Chicago (Cookie Monster rules!). In the
meantime, catch-up on your teen vampire love stories, your (slightly)
pumpkin flavored bevies and Gossip Girls... and, if you have a minute...
some Battlestar Gallactica.

Well,
the big victorious news tonight was the harmonious union between Old Chicago
and 612! Took us ten years to get it done, but (thanks to Bic!) we have
our first v-ball sponsorship! The Happy Hour menu at Old Chicago will
be abused like never before! Sweet! We also continued our v-ball dominance
with another sweep against some young gals teamed with some older dudes
(huh?). And, we had our first super-fans of the season (go Empty Buckets!).
Definitely worth a giant cookie!

Well,
our night at Megatouch was similar to our night on the court (it often
is). We had some great plays, but made enough little errors (times up!)
and mental mistakes to never quite take the sweep (or, high score). And,
in both cases, our language got a bit profane as well. Also, we sweat
more than usual playing both. Overall, fun, competitive volleyball games
(with just a tad of frustration). And, we now have a black president named
Barack Hussein Obama. Pretty crazy.

Credit
the arrival of our super-fan, FlipStyle, but we got back on track with
a sweep. I think we learned that we suck when we drop to the level of
our opponents (tipping and dinking) in a close game one... but we got
back on track in our remaining games for a quick three. Next week, another
sweep, back to Megatough and the push-up challenge. Good thing we're not
too competitive!

Well,
we ran into a frustrating couple of gals (including one that was eight
feet tall) and dropped a game against a team we probably should have swept
(lucky for us, the two guys on their team (yes, they only had five people)
totaled about ten feet of total height). We won two out of three... but,
to me, it didn't feel that rewarding. No matter, we sweep the rest of
the season and we win the league. Why not? We stunk it up on Megatouch
too. Let's climb out of these ruts, put on our smoking pink "toots"
pants and kick tail the rest of the season. Done and done!

We
ran in to a hot opponent that hit and blocked very well and couldn't find
a consistent rhythm. So there you go... we got swept. Drats! We had the
lead in a couple of them, but tightened up a bit in the stretch. Disappointing...
but we still have the chance to finish strong. Plus, no one got their
gold necklace stolen from the locker room... that's something.

Pizza
or Bread? Singing or Dancing? Christmas or Halloween? Win the league or
not? Decisions. Decisions. In the end, nothing was really answered, but
we did finish the season winning two out of three (wish a strong last
game) and at least breaking the top five in Photo Hunt! Little month break
and we'll be back at it in January! That'll be just enough time for me
to start craving another single serving, happy hour special personal pizza.
Good season. I know there's debate on this... but it was fun to once again
be one of the best teams in the league.
