What can brown do for you? Tonight? Not too much. Considering it was the first game for a few of us and our opponents had finger busting spikes (literally!), we didn't play too poorly. We couldn't pull out a win, but played competitively against a stacked team that brought a lot of heat. Tough start to the season, but definitely a good match to get our v-ball skills fired-up quickly. Let's roll with it!

Sudden Impact
(2-4 Last Winter)
Heard we took all three against short shorts! Sweet! Also heard that Keith (self-proclaimed) was a force. Thanks again to the super subs Kara (broken nose?), Noah (nose breaker?) and Nick.

It was a fun night with some long, scrappy, rallies, but in the end, it seems like we should have played better and maybe won all three. Unfortunately, we had a few lapses and gave up some runs that buried us in a couple of games. Keith and Bic had a sweet set-spike combo that kept us in most of the time, but in the end, we were only able to win one of three.

Primed to Play
(2-4 Last Winter)
I heard we dropped three with a ragtag team including two regulars and three gracious subs. Our season of disarray continues. Hopefully we get back to a regular squad soon (although I'm out next week)

We won 2 of 3. We should have easily won all three, but as it stood we were lucky to win 2. We're not firing on all cylinders. Gobble gobble!

Bump Set Bucko
(and MegaTouch!)
I'm not sure what was more impressive... our solid team victory on the court or our come from behind, Hail Mary victory at Photo Hunt. Only time will tell. A fun night on the court with solid passes, set, hits, and blocks gave us a rewarding sweep (just ask that pipe in the corner of the gym). And, sleepy eyes, sausage fingers, and a cheating MegaTouch couldn't prevent a new high score from the Cookie Monster(s). Either way, looks like we found out after game hot spot as we have more touch screen booths to dominate... that is... if we don't find ourselves enjoying some Chesapeake Bay Biscuits at the old Red Lobster next week. Craig, you better order a burger.

Drats! We played well... really well, but couldn't steal a game from our undefeated opponents who are not only the best team in our league... but one of the best teams we've ever matched-up against. We had our chances, including a heartbreaking 26-27 loss in game two in which we were leading 24-20. So be it. We still had a fine night of scrappy play, big digs, quality passing and sets, strong hits, and huge blocking. And, our recent level of play has me pretty psyched going into our last week. Let's sweep all three and then take advantage of our early game to go out and celebrate our season at one of the fine Roseville eating establishments. Done!

(from Craig) That truly was a ton of fun. We played some good games and our intensity made our opponents change their game. It would have been nice to tarnish their season, but if we do play them again they won't think they can walk over us like the rest of their opponents. FYI We are now the Megatouch Champs on 2 of the 4 machines!

Spikers
(4-2 Last Winter)
Another sweep for 612! Yup, you might as well close up Old Chicago in Roseville because all four booths of MegaTouch are now dominated by the Cookie Monsters (or, the Cookie Monrt, if you prefer). Post game (including treats from Red Lobster) was fun, but unfortunately we could not bring those sweeping ways to the volleyball court earlier in the evening. Although expectations were high after a few strong weeks, we dropped two of three to a team we all feel we should have swept. Perhaps it was Steph and all her razzing of Natalie before the game or the aftereffects of a 48 hour road-trip. Who knows? Nonetheless, this somewhat awkward season of subs and inconsistent play rolls to an end. Lucky for us, it looks like we saved much of our dominate play for the winter! Get your Speedos ready!
