(from Craig) We played a smart team that blocked fairly well. We will get another shot at them late in the season so don't worry. Playing with 4 kept everyone on their toes and we needed to create a strategy for how we were going to block and still cover the court. With one blocker and the server running the back row we were able to get our paws on just about everything. They were crafty, but it wasn't that often where a ball hit the dirt without an opportunity for us to dig it. Bic and Hatti's setting was great. Chris found the holes and sent a few off their arms into the rafters. I got eaten up at the net, and on serve receive in one rotation. For the most part all of the elements of our game are there, and we can just tweak things in the coming weeks. We won the middle game and made a run at the other 2 games. The ref said these were the best games of the night, so hopefully next week we come out with a 3-0 victory over Serve it Up (at 7:35). On a side note, if Bic thinks she sets you good 2 times and you don't put it away, or she messes it up 2 times she will tell the other attacker to be ready for the next one. I'm on to you Bic.... :)

Serve It Up
Well, I'd like to blame our two losses on a lot of things... it was the first week for a couple of guys... sore shoulders... shingles... kicking colds... but in the end, maybe we were just a bit flat when we needed to be a bit not-so-flat. We again fielded only four on the court, but had many opportunities to take all three games against an opponent that was very beatable. We ended-up only taking the first game and blew a big lead in the second game. Course, it was just the first week for a couple of us, we had sore shoulders, shingles and were kicking colds (and didn't one of us just give birth?). No matter, next week we'll come out like shark hunters throwing down 720 degree dunks! Or something like that.

Sudden Impact
Personally, I credit our obnoxiously lengthy "strategic" huddles for our two victories over coach and his well organized squad, but you others probably attribute it to our strong sets, exceptionally consistent serving, team play, overall hustle, scrappiness and defense. Yup, it was a fun night of hard played, close games where we were able to take two our of three from a good opponent. Pretty cool.

Prime to Play
(from Bic) On this Hallows’ Eve, garbed in black and orange costumes, 6-1-2! transformed into 6-1-Boo! With the help of a few of nature’s engineers (and a little squirrel) we were treated to an easy Game 1 win with pretty passes, sweet sets and floor-bruising hits. Such a wonderful treat even with “The Bruiser” Stephy pushing Pat around and family-feuding with Keith at the net (granted, Pat climbing Hatti’s back probably wasn’t such a treat for her). Wanting more treats in Game 2, we had to settle for tricks, as a lapse in passing prowess and a series of poor sets (oopsy) helped us lose the lead for good. Even though Captain Craig took it out on the poor water fountain during the break, he headed into Game 3 with a bit of rage left. Poor little twenty-foot-high area of the back wall took a beating (How?!) during an ugly run that ate away at a 6-1 lead. Lowlights footage includes Bic’s underhand serve into the net and Steph’s “Touch!” – called half a minute after the play. For better, Pat (barely) refrained from climbing Hatti’s back again. For worse, he managed to punch her in the eye. (I never felt so lucky to be beside “Monster Truck” Keith in my life) In the end, we tamed our goblins, ghosts and demons with some signature scrappy play, rallying for a last minute (pause for a breather against the blue wall mat) win. 6-1-Boo!

Puke N Rally
With all of us pondering the age old question "Who would you rather sleep with... Keith or Stephy?", 612! hit the court looking for their first sweep of the season. Ask and you shall receive! Let's mount that eight-point win on the wall (and eat the rest of it)! I know we had a few sticky points, but overall, we put it together with good defense and strong finishes (especially in Stephy's weed wacker like swing!). Plus, we ended a family feud that most of us didn't even know existed. That's a good thing. So, rest easy this week savoring our three wins, don't forget to vote, and of course... wash your butt!

Duck Moose
(from Chris) Here is the Thursday night 6-1-2 team recap: Well last night the 6-1-2 team dominated the competition. Right from warm up the hits were intense and on target (protect your jewels!). That alone intimidated the other team. Game 1: Steph took control with a great set that I was able to bump right into an open spot. I believe I served over the net my first serve, it was later in the game where I missed a serve..(my bad!). We were a little sloppy as bic was still trying to find her grove, but we still came out with an easy game one victory dispite Craigs so called "touch" shot into the net. Keith pounded a few down and we were on to game 2. Game 2, was a complete blow out I believe it was 25-10. Bic found her grove, Craig, Keith and I pounded away and Steph and Patty dug everything. Game 3: With a little fire from steph's "NO FUN!" lets get after attitude, we wouldn't let a let down happen. It was close through the first 15 points, I missed another serve, but we battled like the champions we are. On the final play that Keith and I like to call the "Bic Sandwhich for the win" play, Craig passed the ball toward the middle, Keith and I converged on the ball both noticing Bic's slower reaction. Bic somehow made up ground and reached the spot just as Keith and I did she went right between us I bumped the ball up toward the net. Bic spun around took a deep breath after being sandwhiched and in her dizziness was able to hear all of us yelling "Bic" "Girl" "Go" she used her Wonder Woman like speed to get there and bump it over. We all watched it drop right behind the other teams setter for the win! They say when your in the zone everything slows down, I think all of us were in the "zone" because it looked like bic was moving in slow motion! Nice work team! Have a great Thanksgiving everyone. Thanks for letting me play!

So and so set it... AND I SLAMMED IT DOWN! Then, it got bumped up... AND I SLAMMED IT DOWN! Later, it got sent over the net... AND I SLAMMED IT DOWN! Yup, it's a new age of GOTW recaps! We zoned out a bit here and there, but overall, some beautiful sets and finishes against a very strong opponent left us winning two out of three. Perhaps it was the excessively sweaty warm-up, but Keith was particular hot bringing a high-five deserving (well, maybe not from Steph and her long arms) swing time and time again (psst... Keithy... be ready...). Well done all! And, don't forget to MOVE YOUR FEET!

Let's finish big next week. And, if it being the last week of the fall season isn't enough... don't forget... The Olive Garden awaits!

Serve It Up
(from Craig) Gorgonzola & Medallions - Provided the funds for the night, created some miss hits on serve returns and actually beat K-dog in 21 "tip-out". Sorry to hear about the after affects (psst it could have been the soup).

Potsticker - Wore the 612 uniform, despite the heat it creates, sprained her ankle stepping over the serve line, and set the ball up rather nicely. I also don't recall any double hits.... hmm

Slinky Dress - Took part in the team high fives, had some sweet back sets and injured her back on some slow to react diving.

Seafood Alfredo - Ate up the competition at the net, took a swipe at ball he was supposed to set (although it was nice), and collided with teammates on more than one occasion (but this guy could handle it).

Grasshopper / Steve - Convinced a few of us to taste the free wine sample, had great sets throughout the night, stated how bad our opposition was (which is the truth), and man does she love pets.

Bud Light - Fanned on several sure things, instigated the Guinness Record conversation, and didn't weak tip into the net.

6 - 1 - "Dooooo It!" played down to the level of the opposition but they pulled it together when required. Good Season and until the next season get out your remote control cell phones, and sit down for nice movie with your head set.
