Molly's Marauders
(Good first week all... even though my play deserved a timeout in the corner. Check-out the following recap from Bic) This Food (Hungry) Monster must confess that when the Redwood Forest walked onto the court masquerading as our opponent, I was a bit worried. And (yes, I’m using it again to begin a sentence – ask any professor), when our first serve-receive shanked off the wall, I couldn’t help but think, “Uh-oh.” Aided by Blue Moon-induced sluggishness (darn enzymes) and burps we continued our tradition of slow starts and dropped the first game. But just like the sudden tides of Hollywood romance (Paris broke with Paris? Nick and Jessica back together already? No!) our game changed. Keith caught a tuna in the net with pounding frontline play, Craig showed off his hammering (and choking) skills, Hatti was supremely “plump” (congrats!!), Patter confused the trees (and himself) with some tipping, and Stephy was her usual silent-but-deadly self. Much like “Lost,” we penned a nail-biting drama—One so exhausting that a visit to the islands of pineapples and Spam is in order. Hold down the fort. Don’t have any fun. Long live 612!

Galatic Attack
Maybe Trina should have left the pizza in the oven and stayed home. Although she answered the St. Paul/Plymouth cross town call with an emergency run (THANK YOU!), we couldn't get it together enough to get her a win. We played well (not counting the last points where big gray threw it in our face 12 times in a row), but those Galatics played pretty well too. No matter, we'll be set when one of us pulls in that cool $150M (does that mean I need to actually buy a ticket?). Trina, book the castle. Steph, call Bono. Craig, book the flights. Castillo, maybe you have a "friend" in Ireland we can stay with?. Oh, and Keith, make sure to invite those clevaged poker players. Viva la Lower Level B League! BUCKO!

Sloppy Sets
(from Keith) With only four on the court. 612! took on the full six of Sloppy Sets. Everyone hustled their little tails off. The team had some great digs. Bic and Hatti had some great sets and Craig was dropping the hammer like no bodies business. Even Hatti and Bic were spiking like there was no tomorrow. Pat was a force to be reckoned with at the net with at least 5 blocks. Keith had trouble passing at first but came around (and [this is from Pat] smoked some down). We took all three for the first time all season. Things are looking up!! Oh, and by the way, has anyone watched the TV show "Lost"? And, did everyone get home smelling fishy? Don't Worry Be Crabby (aka I Got Crabs in My Pant!). Hee Hee

Total Chaos
(from Craig) When our opponents arrived they had no idea of the level of commitment this team has devoted to creating a winning squad. Stretch began his workout regime over an hour early and started preparing the playing surface to our standards. The remainder of the squad arrived 15 minutes prior to game time to watch him put on the finishing touches. Wolf was also able to acquire the best ball in the bunch and Asreal (aka Bickers) had her eyes on it. The warm up circle seemed to be a bit too large for the guy still living in the 80's, so we tightened it up. As the game began, the squad seemed to be driven as they rarely miss fired and the sets were "top notch". Again we started to get loosy goosy, and Suks roped us in as he tucked in his shirt in honor of the team Elders. A dig here, a quarter pounder there and yes you guessed it, we came away victorious in a 3-0 nod to the good. The image of this team continues to change, and the cat piss filled family truckster drove away to a series of "Yum" comments. Get your thinking caps on, as next year our Halloween Costume needs to have room for a bakers dozen.

Spiked Punch
I really don't remember much from tonight. Yes, I was a bit lax (course, I wasn't the only one)... or maybe I was dazed by the flashbulbs from ALL those team photos. Hmm. Craig and Keith pounded a few. Steph took some wicked good approaches. Bic had some great sets (almost all of which were "pretty"). Hatti agonized over the possibility that her VCR might not tape LOST (oh, and she pounded too) and I tried to do my Keithy Southpaw impression but ended-up sending it into the equipment closet. Oh well. Three more wins against a team of four. Bump - Set - Spike - Punch.

Duck Moose
(from Craig) A warm embrace for the ladies, a warm up lap for the boys, an oversized shirt, and an overworked MRI specialist combined into one of the best team efforts registered to date. The big man owned the net, Hatti an Pat dominated the serves, the Schlichtings were neither here nor there, and Bickers most memorable moment left the crowd groaning. With good sets from some questionable passing, we were able to put it all together and take 3 from one of our favorite opponents. However they're not as fun when the bring in a ringer sub, despite not using his talents. Noodle, cone (a.k.a. Little Lewey), cactus, Russian doll, palm tree and K-dawg (did we come up with something?) will look to continue there success in the coming weeks. Stretch is focusing his attention on the rematch with Molly's Marauders on December 6th, so eat your broccoli and we'll see you there.

Molly's Marauders

Even though we split up after the game driven by our own weaknesses (the boys to scantily clad women in the name of "fashion", Hatti to her school work, and Bic and Steph to a full platter of food), we were gelled on the court. Great scrappiness from Bic, awesome back sets from Hatti, stellar passing and a bomb spike from Craig, Keith smoking them down all night, Steph vocally (but not visually... i.e. eye contact) ratting out the "Spaz/'IN!'/'OUT!'/Roll the Ball into the Corner" dude and myself in the not so rare exaggerated cheering mode. Ahhh... what a team. Definitely a great performance by all... but let's also not forget Tyra, Gisele and Heidi. Man, did someone crank the heat at Keith's place to 95 degrees? I mean... Ricki Martin was hot! I WANT CANDY indeed.! Come on boys, sing it!

Let's wrap up the fall season with style next week. Bring on the big man!

Galatic Attack
(from Bic) ‘Tis the season alright. Galactic Attack sub-guy was overly generous with gifts that moved with lightning speed from their side of the net to the floor on our side. We were truly blessed in not getting our heads or limbs taken off by the force of those charitable gifts. While we could have done a better job receiving the gifts that came our way, we did manage to not look like we played volleyball for the first time tonight (arriving sober helps - ahem). If you still have some shopping for 612! to do, let us express our wishes for 1-The return of skinny 7-foot guy; 2-Less lax-ness for ref-guy; and 3-Good tidings for Prego Hatti. Happy season to all. "And to all a good night!"
