Tough start to fall ball as we dropped both our games... getting ten-runned in the second one. Weather was crazy as it was drizzling, yet dry... extremely windy, humid, and hot (well, until the temp suddenly dropped 20 degrees)... oh, and there was lightning and continual rumbling of thunder throughout. Too bad we couldn't blame it for our play. (from
Mark) Which of the following early trends is most likely to continue?
Grant leading the team in average. Caven hitting below .300. Craig on
pace for 1 sac per game. The Seeds going 0-12. My moneys on
Grant. This is his season. |

The gloomy, overcast, potential to cancel, type of day must had set a mood. We came out okay scoring five runs in our first two innings, but then had about half-a-dozen uninspired, lackluster at bats (in the midst of that we got ten-runned in the first game). We did muster enough in the last couple of innings of the second game to make-up a five run deficit, but could only pull off a tie. Improvement, I guess, but we're still winless. For what it's worth, it looks like this is our worst start since Fall 2001. Blah! |

Well, we played two teams that we should have beaten, and surprisingly, we did. The first game was much closer than expected until we batted through the order (and then some) with an 11-run late game inning (when's the last time that happened?). Second game was a low-scoring affair, but another win. Yup, undefeated in our last three. There was also some talk of Punto Points. I still don't know if it's good or bad to earn a point, but maybe I owe someone some money? Someone publish those rules when you get a chance. |

(from Craig) A cool night brought out a lot of the long sleeves... and a warning from the coach had everyone on their best behavior. With only 9 playas we whipped through the batting lineup at record pace. We scored 5 in the first, but then only scattered a run here or there the rest of the game... only to have the tying run at the plate in the 7th with 1 out. Performance anxiety and the lack of run production throughout the game gave us the loss. Game 2 - Would there be a let down? Well, it helps that our opponent was winless. They put a little run together here and there, but in reality... I can honestly say we were too much for them. The question that I don't have an answer to is "where has all of our power gone?" Lee would say, well we all know what he would say. Pat and Mark would say "I wasn't there". Keith would say "I was there, but I'm rusty". I would say "I'm putting all my effort into just getting 10 guys on the field". All of this is BS. We've got a couple of weeks left and hopefully the playoffs, so lets get this train rolling and put together some run production. The power will come! |

Well, we were cruising in game one with a 13-1 lead and ended-up squeaking out a 22-21 win. At least we had bats. Game two (against some familiar Plowe foes) we were down 2-4 and came back to win 7-5. At least we had some D. No matter what route we took, we swept a couple of games. Not bad. We should note that we also hit six home runs in game one and none in game two. Oh, and Dar hit a hole in one on Golden Tee or something like that. Check his phone. |

(make-up from Sep. 24) Ran into a buzz saw in game one. Our opponents quickly hit their two homeruns and then continued to scatter hits all over the park, tally 16 in the first two innings. We let the Hogger Roast Beef Special settle a bit (uh hum) and, led by a bomb dinger by Craig, did pull within six, but that's about as close as it got. Dropped game one 10-21. In game two, we traded leads back and forth (our adventures in the outfield didn't help) and came to the plate in our last at bat down by four. Keith, Dar, Dan, and Craig were able to get on base... and with a fancy punch, opposite field swing, Grant tied it up. Johnny Castillo then opposite fielded a shot himself to bring in the winning run. Phew! See you in the playoffs! |
