Terlizzo's & Team Abbey
1-1

(From Rainbow) The boys of summer turned into the legends of the fall this week. Unfortunately, Tristan wasn't the only one being handled by bears. We lost game 1 and took game 2 easily. John broke up a 7-7 top of 7 game with a two out homer. We lost in the bottom of the inning after the opponents rallied with two outs. Oh well. Easy come easy go. Game 2 was a route. A deep center field blast by Pat and some hard hit balls by Dee lead the attack. A nice tag at home by Grant kept the foes in their place as well.

With 50% of our team left handed now, do we get some sort of government subsidy? The experiment shall continue....here comes the power...

Much talk of a possible Vegas trip. Got solid commitments from the Gentlemen 3 and much vigor from the drunken 3. You know who you are. Come one come all.

It sure is good to be back, bad back, twisted feet, pitchers fielding their position, the return of Wally Pipp "Gumby" Gehrig at first, a phantom tag at 3rd base, this day had it all. Soak in the sun, the weather is turning cold soon, that can only mean that One Cup's bat will be heating up even sooner.

3 Ring Circus & Rex Kwon Doe
2-1-1

Game 1 - I can't comment on the beginning since I was a few pitches late, but we did have quite an ending. We gave this team a lot of outs and the ball was sailing, but we also found ourselves up against a bunch of steroid meatheads. Heck, in the bottom of the fifth (we only played six innings) they intentionally hit three straight homerun outs to end the inning. Well, we used this as our motivation in the top of the last inning. Seven runs sparked by a three-run shot by Lee gave us a one-run lead. In the bottom of the final inning the Circus put men all over the bases and even scored the tying run, but with bases loaded and one out... Toddy W called his shot. He proclaimed that five infielders was the best strategy and promptly lined-up behind second, caught a line drive up the gut and doubled the runner up a third. Sweet! You've never heard such jubilant cheering for a tie. Those cocky pricks deserved it.
Game 2 - Check out these little facts. We only batted three innings. In the first, we batted 20 guys. In the second, 17. In the third, 17 more. Team batting average of .625. 40 runs scored (again, in three innings!). And, this was against a decent team that put up 11 runs of their own through three. Course, the craziest fact might have been the final infield of Todd at First, Jeff and Second, Pat at Short and Craig at Third. You know you're in trouble when you're hitting against that look. Let's keep the bats going next week!

Ximen Softball & Broadway Pizza
4-1-1

Game 1 – Came back hard against a team with some fierce bats. Heck, one inning we scored ten to take an eight run lead only to have them score nine in the bottom of that inning. Our offense was propelled by dingers from Keith (who has definitely found his bat) and Caven (who, despite his cold symptoms, never seems to lose his). Game ended with our opponents at bat, us up by one, the winning run on base and Casilliollio pitching the strikeout (got him swinging!). Sweet.
Game 2 – Don’t remember much from this ho-hum affair. We won… so that’s good. Keith and Kaven each had another homer (Craig had a homer out). Overall, we played a solid game and were able to maintain a few run lead throughout. The game did end basically in the middle of one of our at bats due to some time rule. The other team went ape. Kind of refreshing to see that every team has a bit of that in them.

Herb's Diner & Yard Dogs
6-1-1

(from Jeff) Game 1 - We 10 runned good ole Herbs Diner. It could be that Herb wasn't cookin' good bats but trying to get the comedy act going. Johnny C(astillo) hugged his bat all the way to first base. The other team tried to get him called out for dropping the bat near first but the ump said you're too late cause the rule went out 3 or 4 years ago. The play of the year goes to Keith as he dove to his right snagged the ball and threw the ball to second from his knees.
Game 2 - While Grant was getting grief from his wife on his effort for running to first base, everyone was commenting on the speed shown by Dan running to first. After discussing at the Hogger who is the fastest on the team it looks like only Pat, Craig and John (Captain Caveman) Caven made the cuts. There also was a not so graceful pirouette by the right fielder as well. The topper of the night was Dar's reason for not making it to the Hogger. I wonder if flowers and a card are enough, maybe some diamond earrings should be added in for good measure?
Good job on another week boys. Let's keep it up. The fall league championship in sight.

3 Ring Circus & Dragons
8-1-1

Game 1 - We started the first game with maybe only Dar, Jeff and Grant playing their "natural" positions (heck, here's your infield: Dan at 3rd, D at SS, Salty at 2nd, Tschak at 1st). No matter, we had the bats for any defense. I don't remember the final score, but we only batted four innings and scored nine in one and twelve in another.
Game 2 - Hot bats continued. Again, I don't remember the final numbers (was I even there?), but I know we did that flip-flop, twelve out last inning in the field thing so we must have been routing pretty good.

Thanks for all the sub help and a nice showing by Tschak. Heck, we're unbeaten since the second game of the season. Chew on that!
(from Mark - What a squad. Only 4 people below .500 on this team. A team average of .552? 200 runs in 10 games? Who are these guys?)

The championship is finally here. Taking two in grand style with the help from Dan in mop up role. We finally take the title out right. Maybe it was our unusually
sober team drinking shirley temples before the game, or perhaps it was the fact that we were all still kind of hung over from a Double OT thriller with the Gophs, or just a visit up north to Duluth; whatever it was, we raised some sort of power from within our selves and shined like only 30 years olds can. (and Lee)

$1 million prize is still up for grabs, courtesy of Grant after he pockets the $148 mill power ball. Think about it, we cold be playing for Dannys' North one day. Highlights - Johnny C. looking like Andruw Jones in Centerfield with a terrific diving catch, Caven at short lunging far out and coming up with an incredible snag (safe however), very sound defense all around. Some nice hitting by the usual suspects and great pitching by Dirty Dar once again.

It is going to be a cold winter, so wear your coats tight, and one brief announcement....party at Rainbow's house. Saturday, October 22. Down south in Burnsville. It will be fun, the libations will be flowing, and Billie Jean may make an appearance. I wouldn't miss this one. Spread the word....and by the way, (Grant), there will be swingers present.

Congratulations again, looking forward to next year. I will work on my speed for the trials so Jeffy doesn't take me again, I guess I'm still a little soar from the weekend. See ya!
