1-1

Guess we have no real men (at least defined by Lee) since not a single Hogger dinged it 300 feet. Course, we'll get another shot at that field (with hopefully less puddles) in a few weeks. Dropped an ugly game one (no hits and some sad errors). Smoked them in game two. Consistency anyone? Charlie Hustle award goes to Keith who circled the bases at least three times in one inning (who needs a pinch runner?). Note: I don't think one walk was issues all night by either team (nice Dar). And, a big hello (two big hellos?) to our new Hogger waitress! Rainbow, want some pie for dessert?

(from Craig) After realizing the chicken razorback is the number one sandwich at the Hogger, the boys decided to drop a couple Bucks. Well, Lee likes the ones without horns and Keith can't help but knock them down when there standing broadside eating grass for nearly 5 minutes. As you can tell, there are no sorry feelings about losing. Seeing our opponent's team name I couldn't help to think who was going to pull out the first "AFFFFLLLLLLLAAAACCCCC!" All joking aside, the first game turned into a route as the seeds put up 20 runs and several players batted three times in one inning. We moved on to the second game with our confidence high, but it was hard to keep the adrenaline going as the first two innings of our next match were filled with blunders. Being down before, our heads were held high and we began to chip away. The crowd was silent and the semi-cocky bunch really had no clue what to do. The night was highlighted with 10+ run victories, taking extra bases, a long ball, and two really short balls. Nothing dirty… you just had to see it to believe it. Let's keep it going. We'll see you boys at the Hogger at 6:15.

3-3

No hitting (try three hits [THREE HITS!] by two players in game two) and barely fielding will get you screwed... twice. Play a good team (PEI in game two) or even a mediocre team (MTI in game one), and the results aren't pretty. Week off to think about it. See you in a couple.

“I Play Ball” – Well, so does Dar. A taco-less Mr. Fick pitched two solid games, including four no-hit innings to start the night and threw as many strikeouts as we have seen in an entire season as the Hoggers smooshed an overmatched bunch of jean wearing, no cleats, error filled scabs ("he didn't tag-up!" umm... it wasn't caught). Other than the difficulties in determining what was a hit and what was an error, the whole night was like a little walk in the park (well, a very dusty park). Kind of relaxing… not very competitive. We even had time for a little waitress photo shoot, ambidextrous swinging, 10-X!, 300’ dance party and a whole lot of Buck Hunter. That’ll help the batting averages.

(from Rainbow) Maybe it was the anticipation of seeing the Purple on Monday night, the Twins going for their 3rd straight Division title, or perhaps it can be attributed to flashbacks of summers past when the softball and blue, red, or orange bats would become one and the prior would soar over the fence with utmost certainty, but the Seeds couldn't hit. Dropping both games by narrow margins after frantic 7th inning comebacks, losing to inferior teams both times. Missing the "catalyst" at the leadoff spot, everyone else performed admirably in the field, including Salty sacrificing his ankle for the team and Tschak looking like Luis Rivas at 2B, or Michael Cuddyer, whatever is more fitting. Yes, on this day, GW's did make a play at the plate, Lee hit a homer, some nice defensive plays, but alas it was not enough. But at least we made it to the Hogger in time to watch the Purple win, oh wait, shit! One more week and then we can all plan on Craig's holiday party where he will have a Buck Hunter game installed in his new basement and Rainbow will have his revenge after Craig's great comeback against Bazooka Joe.

I'm Dan Winslow, and I approve this message. If we only had as much vigor for softball as we did for Buck Hunter. No Cap'n... no heart. We just seemed flat. Lost one that we led by ten and then won one pretty easily. .500 ball ain't so bad. You know... average, moderate, so-so, commonplace, ordinary, unexceptional, uninspired. Woo hoo! Thanks to our super-subs Todd and Jeff. Oh, and remember a couple things for the off-season... shave things that you want licked and keep your finger out of places they don't belong. See you at the next Hogger social gathering. It should be delightful.
