How'd we do?
Aug. 19

4 & 4
1-1

Don't remember too much. Lots of squeeters. Saw my own breath at one point. Late inning comeback in game one fell short. Smoked (in a good way) in game two. D hit a dinger in his return. No idea how we put up 33 runs batting only .405. Sign of things to come...

1 & 4
3-1

Was that fun or what? Double-plays in the field, more deep/line shots than I can remember, overcoming a six run deficit in our final two at bats, 37 total runs scored, five homeruns (including a game winner)... that's about as good as it gets. Homers were hit by Tschak (just fair), Suks (in-the-park), two blasts by Teapot/Cactus/Milkdud/Lee and the creme... a walk-off home run to win game one by Craig (not sure if we've ever had one of those before... or have ever been able to use the words "walk-off"). Look at us... over .500 already! Sweet! Have a fun Labor Day boys. See you in a couple.

5-1

Have we ever been four games over .500? Sure, the first team we played wasn't stellar (the only way you were getting out was if you hit an absolute can of corn... and still you had a 50/50 chance of getting on base). Second team was much stronger, but we ten-runned them too on a barrage of two-out runs (combating their inning of two-out runs). Sure, we only played eight total innings of ball and got to the Hogger in time for pre-game, but still a pretty fun night. Teapot's tip: Avoid the kabobs.

4 & 3
5-3

Game 1 - Remember that run we got in the first inning? I hope so, because it's the only one we got that game. Yup, we got 15-runned in what seemed like 20 minutes. Didn't help that at least 12 of their runs were unearned. Course, our impressive first game .263 batting average (yes, that's five total hits with seven guys going O-fer) didn't help either.
Game 2 - Other than an early solo shot by our secret weapon, Shon Schulte, everyone still seemed like they had the sleepy Sams... well, at least until our magical sixth inning. That's when we rallied from five down to take the lead (capped by a clutch grand salami by Lee... who overcame a severe case of head-lumps). Course, we blew that lead. But, in our last at bat, down by one, Schulte again stepped to the plate with one man on and two-outs (cue the theme song from "The Natural"). The ball blasted of Schulte's bat for a walk-off homer. Unfortunately, it was our third homer, and our third out. Game over (course, if you've got to lose, do it with style).

Sept. 23

4 & 1
7-3

In their classic fall season long sleeves (sliding shirts?) , the hoggsbreath seeds staged off a rather slippery home plate, (Tschak, Dan twice) shrinkage type weather, and London fog to rap out 50, count em, 50 runs in a two game thrashing at our favorite field.
Game 1 - Sure we looked mortal as game ones opponents used some major leaguers (was that Torii Hunter in center?) to smack some balls off and over the fence with a barage of two out hits. Check your cleats boys, next season we're going to Wal-Mart for a fresh pair. Back the good guys come, led by Craig with a laser type homer that we aren't quite sure if it has hit the ground yet and Grant with a "butter" shot over the big wall.
Game 2 - A little bit of the same, except we scored all the runs. And if you're checking the scorebook, we have a new leader in at bats. Stretch highlighted the night by setting a new record by recording the last out in 3 consecutive innings on fly balls. Use your body Keith, not just your arms cries an anonymous tipster. Pencil in Green Bay Sunday night Vikes game at Pat's. Let's win two more and drink until spring.

Sept. 30

4 & 4
8-4

Here's what I remember: We kept our 10-run win streak alive by taking game one (a win). Got ten-runned in game two (a lose). Vad had a sweet catch out in center. Tobs and Dar turned a couple of sweet double plays. Keith gave a sweet end-of-season Corona toast, Tschak (that bastard) is leaving us (miss you, Platt), Schlich finished the season over .700 (ever seen that?), the beer girl was looking even more stripper-esque than usual, we met four guys named, TillSlow, DeePod, TobFig and LeeKart (or something like that) and ScarChin Dar was the spotlight (flashlight) player of the night at the Hogger. Thanks for a fun season boys (don't remember many .667 winning percentages either). We always say it, but let's not be strangers this offseason. A drink, a game... it's easy. Heck, maybe even a bit of softball out in Vegas.
