Record How'd we do?
Sept. 13
7:15
McRae Park, Field D
1-0
First Gang Green drive - 7-0.... second Gang Green drive - 14-0. Third, fourth, fifth, sixth Gang Green drive - 14-12. Yes, hit a bit of a snag in the middle there (THUMP! is the sound of the ball hitting me right in the chest and then not being caught), but came back strong finishing 21-12.
Sept. 20
8:15
McRae Park, Field C
2-0
I had 40 reasons why I thought we might not do so well this week (and two early punts did not help). But, we stayed tough and beat all black 13-12 in a great, rainy, sloppy-field game. Good throws, great hands (especially from the gals) and some unbelievable D... that's the name of the game. (KER-PLUNK! (yup, sticking with the sound effects) is the sound of me dropping my second TD in two weeks... just like a big old ball of shit falling from of an overly-loose asshole... yes, it's upsetting).
Sept. 27
6:15
McRae Park, Field A
3-0
To be honest, I don't really remember much from last night's game... actually, we hardly talked about it afterwards. Course, that has a lot to do with the fact that we smoked them (47-13) and they weren't that good. Man, there's something to be said for having some confidence. Who's with me?
Oct. 4
8:15
McRae Park, Field D
4-0
"Okay, I'll give it to you." If the ref isn't a visor wearing jerk, he's a sweating, indecisive little ball of nerves. We just can't be happy. Okay, maybe in this case it got out of hand (thank goodness for our savior, Red Jacket Red). No matter. Although extremely ugly with not-called penalties, not a bad game. Scoring went back and forth with some pretty good looking plays... picks by Pam, Bill and Schulte didn't hurt either. As long as we're having fun, right? Final score, 50 to 38 (yes, you can put a lot of points on the boards when each play only take 3 seconds (refer to the aforementioned ref)).
Oct. 11
7:15
McRae Park, Field E
5-0
(from Billy) I was planning on doing a full recap to take a little break (work rules!) but, to be honest, I don't remember the details to well. Joe filled in admirably for our captain and the groom-to-be with a pick or two and a TD or two (not to mention some innovative Jump Ball moves!) Craig and Pammy were throwing some fine passes, Steph made some nice catches, Shon was knocking down passes and recording sacks and hurries all over the place, which allowed me to grab some wobbly ill-advised "passes" (though, I did pull a Canseco with that one bouncing off my head). All in all, it was a good win (final score: 39-6) that was assured from the opening whistle by the Cool Visor Ref (who, not surprisingly, wasn't half as cool without the visor on!) Anyway, it got so bad that I got to take a couple snaps and had my first interception-free performance, perhaps, of my life.
Oct. 18
6:15
McRae Park, Field A
5-1
Man, if we win this one, I say "good game team." Course, the opposite means that we lost. Yes, we had a few bad drops and didn't quite pull it together in the end, but really... we didn't play that bad. So, we play well, lose, and are bummed for the rest of the night. So is our lives that have become Co-Rec Touch Football. Any team can beat any team on any given night... well, this was their given night, and they won't have another given night the next time we play them.
Oct. 25
7:15
McRae Park, Field D
6-1

Well, this is how the regular season ends
Staying tough with a defense that bends
19-12 was the final score
Gusty winds... couldn't ask for more
Course, we're taking our lead from Joey of Friends

The play-offs approach with the league now at stake
As proven before, teams will eat Gang Green's wake
It's now time to get it all done
But don't forget to still have some fun
Course, nothing beats a free chocolate shake

Nov. 1

Armitage Park
7-1
Must have been my "even if we lose" pep talk, but Gang Green burst into the play-offs with some of their best ball of the season. We welcomed Liam's scrappiness back and jumped on Schulte (and his big paw) as the defense pitched it's first shutout of the season (final score of 27-0 (thanks to the safety by the two-headed dragon)). Course, the player of the game was definitely Mrs. Schlichting. Two touchdowns... including a backbreaking deep seam route to start the second half (and, my favorite... the crossing route where she scooped it off of the turf while falling to her knees). Not too shabby at all. Well, we sent Super Bowl home and proved that we're ready for the World League (or at least the CFL). Here we go kids... let's make a run at it (course, even if we lose...).
