Not sure if anyone reads these anymore, so I'll keep it pretty short (it's really just for my own records anyway). Good start to the season. Fine squad. Two wins. No major injuries. Lindquists made me look good in game one with two gorgeous assists. In game two, I think Billy had a hat trick, Matt had a couple goals (including one sprawling in front of the net) and Craig had a sweet catch and shoot goal from Bill. Toddy pitched a couple of shutouts. Passing and ball movement was great. Defense was already in mid-season form. Few shots. Little got through. Four games next weekend. Here we go!

Ragtag bunch for a tough to staff Saturday game. First game our opponents forfeited and we scrimaged. Second game, we got handled about as much as we've been handled in quite some time. They weren't an overall strong team, but had a handful of guys who can stick handle really well and ran through our team. Still a good day to get out and play. Thanks to Michele, Heather, Dylan and Josh for subbing.

Girls rocked it today. We played a half with only three women and never had more than one sub...and they hauled all over the ice both games, including Kim's two sweet goals in game one. Nice victory in game one with a high-scoring back and forth shoot out. Game two was against a familiar foe in the Broomballers. It's always chippy, especially when you have a ref who doesn't call anything. So be it. Close fought game that could have went either way. See you for four more games next weekend!

Another hodge podge Saturday with great results on the ice. We outplayed our first team with great passing and ball movement, but the score remained close through the first half. Two goals by super-sub Carrie, a nice goal by Marisue and another one I can't remember. Ended-up pulling away in the second half and wrapping it up. Ran into one of those broomball-shoeless team in game two and controlled the game pretty cleanly. Lots of goals by lots of people, including a hat trick by Carrie (yes, five total for the day). Thanks to or other subs Josh, Michele, Katie and Meghan.

Now we're rolling. Actually, we bumped up against a couple of teams that were pretty well outmatched to play us (not even sure all of them had broomball shoes). Although we gave up some goals and didn't run it up, I don't think anyone of us thought we were ever close to losing. Thanks to Josh and Matt for subbing. Hope to get our full squad next week!

Wow, we looked great out there today. Granted, we were better than our opponent, but we moved it around really well and had some beautiful goals, including an amazing give and go and go and go and go between Bill and Jessi, a nice goal by Carrie from Toddy (Carrie also scored 10 seconds into our first game), a good shot by Hatti (one for us and one for them on a deflection off her shoulder) and many more. Great to have Toddy back in net too! Looking good heading into the end of the season. Keep it up!

Another good showing by EPZ. First opponent wasn't too strong, but it was a good opportuntity for us to move the ball around. Game two was our second game against Maxwell's this season. First time it was a back and forth shootout. We actually went into half down 1-2, but came out strong in the second period and wrapped it up 5-2. The win kep us undefeated on rink 2. Well done EPZ! Good momentum as we head into the playoffs!

Well that was pretty fun, huh? I honestly can't remember what happened in all the games (or the exact scores), but it felt like a great weekend of EPZ broomball. Great defense, game-saving goaltending from Toddy, awesome hustle, good talk, sweet passing, pretty goals, good cheering. I'm fairly certain Jessi had a hat-trick in the Saturday game. I know Dan hit the game winner in a very tight Sunday game. Lots of other fantastic plays too. And now...off to Parade!

I tell you. I felt really good going into this semifinal game at Parade. We had a good team and were playing really well throughout the playoffs. Unfortunately, our opponents came out fast, with high energy and stick handling and we just didn't match their early intensity. The game evened out in the second half, but we had just dug too big of a hole. No finals for us this year. Great season EPZ!

Year-end tournament will be the weekend of Feb. 5-7 and Feb 12-13.
