Bowl-O-Rama 2002. It's all for charity... right?

It's back and bigger than ever! No I'm not talking about Pat's hair. It's the Runnin' Cow Bowl-O-Rama!

For those of you who are wondering what the Bowl-O-Rama is, I'm glad to hear you finally returned safely from that Antarctic adventure that kept you from knowing what is going on in the real world. For those of you who have been loyal attendees, your long year of anticipation is finally over.

A little history:

The Runnin' Cows began existence as a small group of hunters and gatherers in the region of Minnesota once called "St. Cloud". With DNA testing of beer bottles and the analysis of handwriting on the bathroom walls of local establishments, researchers have dated them back to the mid 1980s. In 1990 AD, "The Great Migration" began and most of them ended up in the Twin Cities while some have been spotted as far away as Texas. They are a simple folk who mainly tend to themselves but occasionally partake in tomfoolery and sculduggary. Which brings me to the Bowl-O-Rama. (Oh yeah - I skipped a lot of the history, but you can catch it on the History Channel or in the exhibit coming to the Science Museum this summer called "From Keystone Light to Taco Sandwiches: The History of the Runnin' Cows").

The annual Bowl-O-Rama consists of a small $10 fee for all the bowling you can get in at the Park Tavern in St Louis Park from 6 to 8 (or 8:30) on Friday June 14. You can also optionally buy a $10 raffle ticket that, if you get selected, will get you a great prize (who won that Rocky Balboa wall hanging anyways) and the chance to bowl for a large sum of money (to be determined). And of course the whole thing is 'moolight' style so if you get the colored pins when you shoot, you can win!

After the bowling, everyone is invited over to my house for some drinks and snacks (I only live a few blocks from the Park Tavern.) It has gotten bigger every year and I expect the same this year, so I really need to know how many people we will have so that I get enough lanes reserved and how many neighbors I need to warn. So please RSVP to me somehow. Remember friends and family are invited.

While the Park Tavern gives us the lanes for a softball fundraiser, we have chosen to take only a portion of the money to apply towards the team and will donate the rest to charity. If someone has a special cause that they would like to support, let me know - otherwise the money will be donated to the St. Louis Park Foodshelf Network.

As I have said many times, It is the most fun you can have with a 10 pound ball, but don't take my word for it, here's what others are saying:

"Fun, it is. A good time, you will have." ~ Robin Meland (yes, she now talks like Yoda.)

"Damn plate tectonics is affecting my game again." ~ Mark Schuh

"Hey - that's my ball! See it says 'Uncle Strikey' right there." ~ Dan Koehler

"That rug really tied the room together" ~ The Dude Lebowski

So again, here is the details:
Park Tavern in St Louis Park
6PM on Friday June 14
$10 (plus an optional but highly recommended $10 raffle ticket)
Party at my house following the bowling (3224 Kentucky Ave S in St Louis Park)

And Droll - no foghorns and dart guns this year and for the last time, those devices that shoot bowling balls out every once in a while are not trash compactors.

And Tiechroew, once again, this isn't the game where you run in front of the ball sweeping the lane to move your ball around. That is curling - this is bowling.

See ya,
Paul
